Cherry Grove Beach

Last week we took our beach trip with Davids family to a beach north of myrtle called Cherry Grove. We have stayed in the same home for 3 years now. We missed having Papa with us this year very much! This is the home we stay at there.

The home is located on a channel so we can fish there, although we never catch anything, its still fun to fish. Also the back reminds us of water fights we have each year on one afternoon. Someone holds the hose to get people while others go in for buckets of water and some go way up top on the deck to get those below, it is a fun afternoon and refreshing :)

We cant get into the home til the afternoon so usually we get down to the beach early enough to do other things in the meantime. This year we went to broadway at the beach and the kids enjoyed riding a few rides with Nana after we got lunch there.

After we checked into the house and unpacked we always go eat at K & W cafeteria for supper since we havent gotten groceries yet, otherwise we cook supper there almost each night. The next morning after Davids HUGE breakfast he made us (which he did almost every morning) we got to the beach! These photos are taking throughout the week of different mornings we went. We took our lunch there a few days and then went to a pool right there that was open before heading back to rest in the afternoons.

We had a big canopy we bought this year so we had shade for everyone. David used our sand shovel each day (usually twice a day) to dig a big hole for the kids to play in. If it was close enough it would fill in with water which was fun to have their own sand pool.

David made Kalyn a mermaid again here.

We went down to the pier twice during the week after supper.

When we go to the pier at night many fishermen are catching baby sharks and throwing them back. Here the kids got to touch a shark before it went back to the ocean...

Just getting messy in our clothes but thats ok, thats the fun of it!

On tuesday we took a break from the beach and we took the kids to play putt putt (which is minature golf for my family) with mama and Nana.

Then we headed over to barefoot landing to see what was going on there. We found these bungee jumpers the kids could go on which they LOVED and Kalyn learned to do a flip with hers. That was something they really enjoyed doing!

After lunch there they enjoyed HUGE lollipops and yes you can probably guess what Noah looked like after eating his....

These photos are just taken though the week. We all enjoyed watching tv in the afternoons, or evenings before we ate. Uncle Derrick, Aunt Dana, Nana and Mama enjoyed snuggling with the kids on the couch.

The couch was Noahs naptime spot in the afternoons, he just woke up, hello Noah!

Aunt Dana brought many arts/crafts to work on with Kalyn during the week. This is the table that I guess you could call the "craft table"!

One morning we got to the beach VERY early to get a lot of family shots. David used his wonderful photography skills to capture so many amazing photos, here is just a sample. Dana and Derrick came and helped do some of all of us and Dana may also have the photography gift as they were great as well!

We always get a full group shot the morning we have the leave the beach! We also go eat breakfast together before everyone heads back! Sniff Sniff.....

As everyone heads off, David and I usually take the kids somewhere after breakfast to extend our stay at the beach a short while. The kids were asking all week to see the acquarium again so we went there before we headed home. Here the kids enjoyed getting up close to the sharks :)

We had a wonderul fun filled week which always goes so fast! We will look forward to another beach trip again :) Thanks Mama, Nana, Dana and Derrick for a wonderul week with all of you!!!

Fathers Day at the Huntley House

Hope all of you Fathers had a wonderful fathers day weekend!!! We had a great weekend ourselves! David had his free day Saturday so he did whatever he wanted while I watched the kids for the day. We had given him his gifts early so he could enjoy them Saturday. He got two classic 007 movies and the pink panther DVD and a magazine called "Geek" which he actually really enjoys despite the name, ha ha.

Sunday after church we headed to our neighborhood pool with our lunch and after a few minutes there we ended up being the only family for almost two hours so it was nice to have the pool for ourselves this afternoon. Kalyn and Noah are getting much better at swimming. Kalyn can jump in now doing the "cannon ball" as seen here.



Noah has to be told to keep his toes on the edge before jumping in as he will otherwise jump so close to the edge it scares us he will hit his head one day on the edge! He isnt afraid of anything it seems!

Kalyn now can dive down and getting "divers" as she calls them on the bottom and here she is getting ready to find some more....

For supper David wanted to do the Huntley Feast which is something his Dad, who passed away two years ago, used to do for their family of four on Saturday nights regularly. I think they just called it supper but we named it "The Huntley Feast" as it is basically so much food it is a "feast"! We did it just the way Pops used to by grilling out steaks, hamburgers AND hotdogs. Then inside I was making scalloped potatoes, mushrooms and onions for the steaks and texas toast. Of course we all had to make salads and have a plate of cheese, deviled eggs, carots, celery and olives too! Oh and also while we cooked and ate the delicious meal we enjoyed Pops Beach music as well!

This is the setup before we could dig in. Of course we couldnt eat much at all but lucky enough we now have leftovers for the whole week which means NO COOKING for me :)

SO as we are now stuffed and feeling kind of sick from eating too much I have to say we actually had a very very great weekend and hope all of you fathers did as well :)
